"Ship to Gaza - Greece" Press Release

On Monday 31 of May, at 4:50 in the morning, special forces of the Israeli army, with helicopters and dinghies, attacked the ships of Free Gaza Movement, using live munitions. This blatant attack that took place in international waters, 80 nautical miles outside Israel's and Gaza's coasts, resulted in deaths (unconfirmed numbers) and more than 30 wounded people, mainly from the Turkish ship Mavi - Marmara.

We condemn the terrorist state of Israel for committing once again international piracy against civilians from at least 50 countries who were carrying humanitarian aid to besieging Gaza.

The Greek Government did not only act to save guard the lives of Greek citizens on board the ships bearing Greek flag, but also it continues its military exercises with Israel at the same time when Israel occupies Greek ships and abuses Greek citizens.

The Greeks on board, members of the Greek mission and representatives of "Ship to Gaza" kept calling the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but no one was answering.

We demand the Greek government to:

1) act immediately for the immediate release of all our hostages and the safe return of our Flotilla Freedom ships.
2) close the Israeli embassy
3) stop the Greek Israeli common military exercises and terminate all relations with the terrorist state.

We call everyone to join us in a demonstration, today at 7 pm outside the Israeli embassy of Athens.
